Interview with Jennifer Becker

Hi Jennifer Becker, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
Oltobooks : Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Jennifer Becker : My name is Jennifer Becker. I have been a published author since 2016 but I have been writing stories since I was a child. I am a medical receptionist by day and an author by night.
Oltobooks : What are your ambitions for your writing career?
Jennifer Becker : I want to share my stories with people about brave and courageous men and women who aren't afraid to fight for love.
Oltobooks : When did you decide to become a writer?
Jennifer Becker : I feel like I have always been a writer. When writing assignments were given in school and most groaned I was excited because I had a million stories running through my head.
Oltobooks : Why do you write?
Jennifer Becker : I enjoy it. It's a release from the realities of the world even if my stories are about real world issues.
Oltobooks : What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?
Jennifer Becker : I used to just write my stories and put them in a trunk in my closet but my friends saw me always writing. They asked to read them and said that I shouldn't just hide them but share them with the world.
Oltobooks : Where do your ideas come from?
Jennifer Becker : Sometimes I don't always plot out my stories. I have a rough idea and then as I start writing my characters tell me what's going to happen and I just follow along. Others I do have an idea. Some come from movies or dreams.
Oltobooks : What is the hardest thing about writing?
Jennifer Becker : Feeling like I have my own original voice. I know every story out there has been done to death but I don't want to feel like a copy cat but I share my stories my own way and people can feel the difference.
Oltobooks : What is the easiest thing about writing?
Jennifer Becker : The flow of conversations between many characters and introducing new ones and falling in love with my characters. I think I enjoy my secondary characters more than my main ones.
Oltobooks : If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
Jennifer Becker : I have several series going on right now but they all center around armed forces or those retired and trying to make their way in life. Not all stories revolve around war and battles but home life as well.
Oltobooks : What are your thoughts on writing a book series?
Jennifer Becker : I find them easier because it can be hard to connect with one character in just one book. In a series you can learn more about the characters.
Oltobooks : What is your favourite positive saying?
Jennifer Becker : Each day is a new beginning to try again.
Oltobooks : Where can you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Jennifer Becker : A medical assistant and still writing in my spare time.
Oltobooks : What advice would you give to your younger self?
Jennifer Becker : Never give up no matter the negativity and self doubt.

In my Room long ago
I sat so merry in my abode
Loving hands around me
I dreamt of such glorious days
One day i would see

I remember the day I left
My room
I closed the door behind me
One quick look again
Then walked away
The room which would always remind me

The glorious days I had dreamt
I did merrily spent
How little did I then know
Life turns on a dime
My room is now not as it was
When I closed the door
Behind me

My room now is a prison
But not how one would invision
It is one of sorrow and grief
Sadness burns into the bare walls
I catch my breath
And weep

Why did thou'st doth betray?
The room which once embraced me
I ask with riddled heart
Jagged and torn
Which wicked riddles have I thus sought?

I sit still
I am now my room
No dreams as once before
I age before my open door

In my room long ago
I sat merrily in my loving abode
Loving hands did hold me
All gone

My room and myself
Now one
Two thrust to be together
Forever
Alone
