Interview with Pratibha R DH

Hi Pratibha R DH, thank you for agreeing to this interview.
Oltobooks : Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
Pratibha R DH : Writing is my passion and it deeply fulfills me. I am from an IT background and luckily, IT being a dynamic field, a lot of my work involves industry-related writing such as content specialisation, technical writing, and digital marketing. I got into fiction writing 11 years back and I juggle it alongside my IT career. I feel blessed to pursue dual careers related to my passion and one that helps me explore my creativity.
Oltobooks : What are your ambitions for your writing career?
Pratibha R DH : Right now I am writing the second volume of my paranormal crime thriller, Child of Paradise. Butterflies in the storm,' a contemporary romance novel, is in the last stages of publication. I plan to write novels that make a difference in people's lives and bring a sense of meaning to them. I am planning to publish a book of inspirational poetry as well as a couple of motivational short stories. It is already in the works.
Oltobooks : When did you decide to become a writer?
Pratibha R DH : Around 11 years back in 2010, the idea grew strongly in me to write my first children's book. In my younger years, I was actively writing poetry right till my university days and also did a lot of article writing in my free time on different lifestyle-related topics. But in course of time, my career in IT kept me busy and I had put my writing side for a long hibernation.
Oltobooks : Why do you write?
Pratibha R DH : Writing makes me happy and completely fulfills me. It is my passion, my inner calling, and is something that I was meant to do in this life.
Oltobooks : What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?
Pratibha R DH : Back in 2010, the idea of a children's story grew so strongly in me that I knew I had to write it and there was no other escape other than doing it.
Oltobooks : Where do your ideas come from?
Pratibha R DH : Ideas mostly come from my emotions or some subject that interests me or moves me.
Oltobooks : What is the hardest thing about writing?
Pratibha R DH : Finding more time for it.
Oltobooks : What is the easiest thing about writing?
Pratibha R DH : Working on the scenes after the plotting is done.
Oltobooks : If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
Pratibha R DH : Yes, I am writing the second volume of my paranormal crime thriller, Child of Paradise. The first volume, Listen to your dreams, is a murder mystery mixed with paranormal elements and it has been received well by my readers. The protagonist in my first volume is from the IT field who is haunted by the death of her sister and she tries unearthing the mystery behind her death which was assumed to be a suicide by the police. The second one is also a paranormal crime thriller and it will involve mostly the film industry and I am totally enjoying writing this one.
Oltobooks : What are your thoughts on writing a book series?
Pratibha R DH : I had already planned my paranormal thriller to be a series, each being a standalone independent story with completely different characters, just like my favorite Agatha Christie books. My contemporary romance novel, ‘Butterflies in the storm,’ will have a sequel as I plan to write about the protagonist's journey right from her teens to her middle age along with the supporting cast in the book.
Oltobooks : What is your favourite positive saying?
Pratibha R DH : Whatever happened was good. What’s happening is going well. Whatever will happen will also be good. Do not worry about the future. Live in the present.
Oltobooks : Where can you see yourself in 5 years’ time?
Pratibha R DH : Making the best of my gifts and living a positive life that makes me a better and fulfilled human being.
Oltobooks : What advice would you give to your younger self?
Pratibha R DH : Showing your emotions to the world and being an open book at times make you prey to selfish motives. Keep a side of you to yourself especially your weaknesses. Trust few, give more, and have fewer expectations.

In my Room long ago
I sat so merry in my abode
Loving hands around me
I dreamt of such glorious days
One day i would see

I remember the day I left
My room
I closed the door behind me
One quick look again
Then walked away
The room which would always remind me

The glorious days I had dreamt
I did merrily spent
How little did I then know
Life turns on a dime
My room is now not as it was
When I closed the door
Behind me

My room now is a prison
But not how one would invision
It is one of sorrow and grief
Sadness burns into the bare walls
I catch my breath
And weep

Why did thou'st doth betray?
The room which once embraced me
I ask with riddled heart
Jagged and torn
Which wicked riddles have I thus sought?

I sit still
I am now my room
No dreams as once before
I age before my open door

In my room long ago
I sat merrily in my loving abode
Loving hands did hold me
All gone

My room and myself
Now one
Two thrust to be together
Forever
Alone
